It Only Hurts When He Goes

Sammy slipped a hand to Gabe's forehead. "I should go get the thermometer..."

Gabriel frowned, but nodded, moving to lay back down.

"I'll be right back sweetie," said Sammy.

"Okay." Gabriel said quietly.

Sammy went after the thermometer

"What are you doing...?" Adam asked when he saw her.

"Gabe has a fever," said Sammy, no longer trying to mask the worry in her voice now that she was out of Gabe's room.

"Sure he does..." Adam said, thinking Gabriel just made it up and told Sammy that.

"Adam, I felt it myself," said Sammy. "He's running a fever."

Adam sighed, running a hand through his hair. "Oh..."

"I'm beginning to think the issue with his stomach today isn't just a hangover," Sammy told him. "He's already been sick once." She lowered her voice a bit. "Can you call for the doctor?" she asked. "I'll try to keep him calm in the meantime."

Adam frowned when Sammy mentioned Gabriel being sick, but quickly hid it, turning away and nodding as he went to call.

Sammy grabbed the thermometer from the bathroom and returned to Gabe's room. "Here I am sweetie," said Sammy gently.

Gabriel smiled tiredly when he saw Sammy, slowly moving to sit back up.

Sammy sat down on the edge of the bed. "How you feel sweetie, still sick to your stomach?"

Gabriel frowned and nodded. "Mmmhmm."

Sammy frowned, running a hand through Gabe's hair. "My poor baby..."

Gabriel shivered, moving closer to Sammy.

"Let's see how high that fever of yours is," said Sammy, turning on the thermometer

Gabriel made a nervous sound, leaning away slightly.

"Gabe, sweetie," said Sammy gently. "It's just me, you trust me don't you?"

Gabriel nodded, moving closer to hug her. "Yes, of course I do."

Sammy smiled wrapping her arms around Gabe, hugging him close. "Just relax sweetie, it'll only take a minute, I promise."

"Okay." Gabriel said quietly, sitting and leaning against her, sighing before opening his mouth.

Sammy ran one hand through Gabe's hair, slipping the thermometer into his mouth with the other.
